Alien Romulus: Conveyor Hall & Hive 4

Conveyor Hall Entry Designs done for Alien: Romulus

One of my favourite shots I designed for the entry into the Conveyor Hall / Hive seen in the Third Act of the film.

Fede Alvarez brief was super clear. The protagonists exit the Lab crawling along the Conveyor belt whilst passing through some gritty rubber curtains, and find themselves stepping into a tight, dark hallway which would become the pathway to discovering the hive.

My aim was to make this space feel extremely utilitarian, with a tight working terminal and roller door - much like a foreman’s workspace in the back of a supermarket crossed with a typical airport bridge control (I guess my days of working as a teenager stacking supermarket shelves paid off as this reference stuck with me all these years!)

I also wanted to ensure the diagonal A-Frame would sit flush within this space in other for the metal work to do its job by guiding the eye to the characters when they step into the hall.
And of course look closely for the Alien Isolation phone!
